Introduction

Al-Aleem Medical College (AAMC) is a leading private sector medical institution in Pakistan, established in 2017 under the umbrella of the Gulab Devi Educational Complex on Ferozepur Road, Lahore. Despite being a relatively young institution, the college benefits from the rich legacy of Gulab Devi Hospital, a renowned tertiary care teaching hospital founded in 1934 by Sir Ganga Ram in memory of his mother, Gulab Devi. Today, Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital, with a capacity of more than 1,500 beds, serves as the primary training and clinical attachment facility for AAMC students, offering them extensive exposure to real-world patient care.

The college is recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and is affiliated with the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, ensuring that its academic standards, curricula, and examinations are aligned with national medical education requirements. AAMC offers a five-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, alongside other undergraduate degree programs in basic medical sciences such as Physiology, Biochemistry, and Anatomy.

From its inception, AAMC has emphasized a student-centered approach to medical education, focusing not only on theoretical knowledge but also on practical skill development. The institution houses modern teaching facilities, including multimedia lecture halls, well-equipped laboratories, a dissection hall, and a Clinical Skill Laboratory (CSL) designed to prepare students for Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) and simulation-based learning. The Department of Medical Education (DME) plays a central role in curriculum planning, quality assurance, assessment, and faculty training, ensuring a continuous improvement in the delivery of medical education.

The college also places importance on research, community health, and professional ethics, preparing its graduates to meet the challenges of both local and global healthcare systems. In addition to academic and clinical training, AAMC provides student counseling, extracurricular activities, and opportunities for personal growth, though its primary strength lies in clinical exposure, particularly in the fields of pulmonology, cardiology, and internal medicine, given the hospital’s specialty areas.

With its combination of affordable fee structures compared to many private sector colleges, affiliation with a large teaching hospital, and a commitment to producing competent and ethical physicians, Al-Aleem Medical College has quickly earned a respectable place among Pakistan’s private medical institutions.
