Quality Enhancement Cell

QEC INTRODUCTION

Al Aleem Medical College being a prestigious educational institute has always been conscious of the quality of its education and services and to address the important aspects. QEC’s frame works is a road map to continuous improvement and constitutes a means to measure the institute’s commitments to implementing the highest standards of quality through reflection, discovery and advancement. Realizing the challenges to be faced in the field of higher education during 21st century, impact of globalization and the need for knowledge based economy the AL ALEEM MEDICAL COLLEGE has established the Quality Enhancement Cell in 2018. The QEC is the centralized department which objective is to support the institute & its endeavors to improve the standard of education and research and make it compatible with international requirements. The QEC believes that the issue of quality enhancement cannot be separate from the quest of excellence. For this purpose the QEC develops the Quality Assurance Process and Evaluation Methods including Self-Assessment Program. QEC works with Quality Assurance Agency of Higher Education Commission (QAA/HEC) in the process of capacity building of academia, awareness campaigns, training of teachers for preparing Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) of the various teaching programs in their respective departments. In this regards through a system of surveys and feedback the QEC attempts to protect the interest of students, teachers, employers, and other stakeholders in the field of higher education. QEC of the institute has clearly defined guidelines as per HEC policies and ensures commitments to continuous improvement. The QEC team at AL ALEEM MEDICAL COLLEGE would work in close collaboration with (HEC, UHS and PMC) for improvement and enhancement of existing programs and development of new ones for uplifting of the institution.

SCOPE OF QEC (Al Aleem Medical College)

The QEC is the centralized department that is responsible for:

  1. For promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
  2. To support the institute & its endeavors to improve the standard of education and research and make it compatible with international requirements.
  3. For the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.
  4. For defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the reviews to be carried out. It should also help the employees to know as to what they could expect from the candidates.
  5. To develop qualifications framework by setting out the attributes and abilities
  6. To develop a system of surveys and feedback to protect the interest of students, teachers, employers, and other stakeholders in the field of higher education.
  7. To develop program specifications. These are standard set of information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes a student should have developed on successfully completing a specific program.
  8. To develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.
  9. To ensure that the AAMC quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education.
  10. For the capacity building of academia, awareness campaigns, training of teachers for preparing Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) of the various teaching programs in their respective departments.

This assurance is translated through the implementation of national or international requirements of accredited standards of quality. This coupled with our long years of tradition, experience and momentum; put together our “Quality Concepts” in educational outcomes. QEC ACCOMPLISHMENT

Following are some of the accomplishments of the Quality Enhancement Cell at national and international levels:

  • Conducted self-assessment of programs against eight criteria and thirty one standards: Five (5) self-assessment reports have been prepared, Five (5) are in pipeline; Four (4) self-assessment cycles have been completed across all departments of the institutes.
  • Followed up with corrective actions on deficiencies identified by the Assessment Committees during their self-assessment visits.
  • Conducted evaluation on E Learning and maintain the reports according to the guidelines of HEC.
  • Participated in HEC E-survey based on online education delivery.
  • Periodic training sessions for capacity building of Program Teams are arranged for all departments.
  • Continual training of Faculty
  • Contributed in academic literature of quality in higher education, both at national and international levels.
  • Standardized quality assurance activities across all campuses through implementation of QEC Annual Activities Calendar, and rigorous periodic follow up through various channels.
  • Provided facilitation in conducting of accreditations for all programs e.g. HEC, UHS and PMC etc.
  • Nominated QEC Assessment Committees comprising competent resources from various reputed universities of Pakistan.
  • Continuous follow up for corrective actions on deficiencies identified by Assessment Committees.
  • Periodic training sessions for capacity building of Program Teams are arranged in all Departments.
  • Won INQAAHE Scholarship for attending INQAAHE Biennial Conference in Quality of Higher Education in MOSCOW.
  • Contributed in the conferences on quality in higher education; at national and international levels.
  • Standardized quality assurance activities across all departments through implementation of QEC Annual Activities Calendar and periodic follow up.
  • Implemented quality assurance mechanism of BS programs as per HEC guidelines and requirements.
  • Promoted public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
  • Updating the Course Catalog covering all degree programs offered by the accredited Universities.
  • Registered in INQAAHE/APQN Database of approved Affiliate member.
  • Obtained news coverage in INQAAHE and HEC News Bulletins on regular basis.
  • Contributed in HEC national workshops on quality in higher education as resource person.
  • Represented the Al Aleem Medical College at Two HEC-QAA all Pakistan phase wise meetings.
  • Launched HEC structured questionnaires for measuring feedback from various stakeholders to enhance quality of education: The stake holders included Faculty, Alumni, Employers, Graduating Students, Current Students, and Faculty.
