Research cell has been established in the Department of Medical Education Al-Aleem Medical College in order to steer the research activities initiated in Al-Aleem Medical College and affiliated Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital. Research Cell will implement the policy guidelines approved by Research Advisory Committee and IRB. Research Management Sub-committees are established in the clinical and preclinical/basic sciences departments of the AAMC. These committees will coordinate for technical assistance, capacity development program and implementation of research publication policies in the institution.
Research Advisory Committee was (RAC) established under the official notification by the Principal Al- Aleem Medical College vide reference number AAMC/SC/D-1036 dated 19th August 202 for the technical assistance of research cell. It comprises of senior level faculty members of Al-Aleem Medical College with brilliant research experience and academic credentials. RAC is the core technical strength for making the policy decisions to steer the research initiatives of the students and faculty of AAMC and GDH.
Two Research Management Subcommittees (RMSC) are constituted to enhance the scope of research technical assistance closer to the various departments, clinical units, specialties and subspecialties. These are the RMSC for pre-clinical/basic sciences and RMSC for the clinical sciences. The committees comprises of senior faculty members from the relavant clinical and preclinical departments of the Al-Aleem Medical College and GDH. The scope and functions of RMSC are summarized below:
Research management committees will provide the technical assistance to students and faculty seeking help for proposal development to be submitted for technical/ethical approval by the IRB. The scope and functions of the committees are summarized below:
• Promotion of research culture:
Management sub-committees will develop and implement the strategies to encourage the trainee and faculty to mature their conceived innovative ideas into formal publishable research outcome in the form of presentation, reports and manuscripts for publications.
• Technical assistance:
The most important function of the members of the RMSC is technical assistance and guidance of the trainees and the faculties members for development of research proposal to be submitted in the IRB. Members of the RMSC will act as focal persons for the technical review of the research proposals developed by students and faculty in the respective departments.
• Capacity building and training:
Management sub-committees can take their own initiatives for the capacity building trainings and workshops or they can coordinate with Research Cell, Medical Education for arrangement of faculty fevelopment program/workshops. RMSC can recommend and propose the areas that need to be addressed in faculty development programs.
• Review and feedback:
Members of the RMSC will guide for the development of research proposals they will review and provide feedback to the trainee or faculty for improvement of research proposals before submission to the IRB. Members of the RMSC can also be consulted for development of manuscript for publications.
• Coordination for Policy guideline and research tools
Research Management Sub-committees will communicate and implement the research guidelines and policies issued by the Research Cell, IRB and Department of Medical Education for the proposal development, ethical review and publications.
• Record Keeping:
Members of the RMSC will ensure the record keeping of the raw and processed data in the relevant department in which the research data collection is conducted. They will also ensure the records of manuscripts submitted for publication and published articles by the respective Departments.
